Roots
Project statement
In the “Roots” series, I explore the search for rootedness and the tension between belonging and estrangement. Each work is composed of layered fragments—photographs and cuttings from old books, mineral charts, landscape imagery, and acrylic washes—assembled on plywood panels. The houses float above these layers, suspended in space, evoking both fragility and a longing for grounding. The compositions hover on the surface, suggesting a transient connection to place. Through this, the series reflects on how memory and imagination can construct a sense of home where none exists.
