Project statement
This series explores the tension between what is hidden and what is revealed, through layering and color. Each piece begins with a black-and-white portrait of a woman. Parts of the image are covered with bold colors and dense embroidery. The thread is tightly stitched, creating a textured surface that both blocks and exposes parts of the face. Soft, flowing shapes hover above, breaking the straight lines and adding movement and emotion.
